Danish international team coach Nikolaj Jacobsen can breathe a sigh of relief after the shoulder injury which Flensburg Handewitt's Emil Jacobsen sustained during the Bundesliga match against Melsungen won't keep him out of the upcoming World Championships in January.

The experienced winger was in severe pain when he left Flensburg-Handewitt's league match against MT Melsungen on Friday.

The injury is not serious, says the Bundesliga's current number two on Monday on Instagram.

"But to ensure that he is ready to play in the Bundesliga, he will be spared in the upcoming EHF match in France", writes Flensburg-Handewitt with reference to the visit to St. Raphael on Tuesday.

27-year-old Jakobsen is, with 75 goals in 13 league matches, the leading goalscorer for his club and is currently eighth on the list of leading goal scorers in the German Bundesliga.

Earlier this autumn, he reached 1,000 goals for Flensburg-Handewitt, thus continuing a tradition of goal-scoring Danish wingers in the Northern German club.

Lasse Svan is noted for 2241 goals, Anders Eggert for 2531 goals, and Lars Christiansen managed to score no less than 3996 goals for Flensburg-Handewitt.
