Both matches against Sweden were marred by injuries for the Danes. On Thursday, Mette Tranborg suffered a rupture in her calf, which ruled her out for the World Championships, and on Saturday, winger Trine Ostergaard twisted her foot in a solo action early in the match and subsequently had her ankle bandaged.
During the break, assistant coach Bojana Popovic said that she did not expect it to be a serious injury, but Ostergaard needs to be examined more closely.
In addition to Tranborg, Mie Hojlund and Althea Reinhardt have both been ruled out for the championships through injury.
Coach Helle Thomsen could, however, take heart from the fact that Amalie Milling, who replaced Althea Reinhardt, delivered a great performance in goal.
Milling made one fine save after another. In the first 11 minutes, she only allowed herself to be passed twice, which is why Denmark were able to edge ahead 7-2 before Sweden called a timeout.
Sweden managed to reduce the deficit to 7-10, but the Danes pulled away again.
Anna Kristensen took over in goal from the start of the second half and did not have a bright start. In six minutes, Sweden reduced the score to 18-21, and national team coach Helle Thomsen called for a timeout.
It didn't improve things, and in the final phase, Sweden came close to restoring parity, but Anna Kristensen saved a free throw in the dying seconds.
Despite injuries, Denmark is considered favorites for the gold medals along with Norway. Helle Thomsen's troops start the tournament against Japan on Thursday. In addition, Croatia and Romania await in the opening group stage.
