The Ottawa Senators signed forward Claude Giroux (37) to a one-year deal worth $2 million on Sunday.

Giroux's new contract is worth up to $2.75 million with bonuses. The 18-year veteran has been with the Senators the past three years, coming off a season where he posted 15 goals and 35 assists in 81 games.

"I don't know how many years I have left," said Giroux back on May 3rd prior to signing the new contract. "But I feel like I have a lot left in the tank. Like I said, I'm loving hockey right now, I want to play and I feel like I can be an impact player. So, it's going to be a big summer for me and for all my teammates, too. We had a little taste of it, of playoffs, how it feels and how fun it is, and when you have that little taste, you want to get back into it."

Originally drafted with the 22nd pick in the 2006 NHL Draft, Giroux spent the next 15 years as a cornerstone of the Philadelphia Flyers before being traded to the Florida Panthers during the 2021-2022 season.

Giroux has posted 365 goals and 751 assists over the course of his career. At 1,263 career games, the veteran will look to join elite company as he aims to eclipse 1,300 this upcoming season.

If he surpasses the mark, Giroux will join only nine other active NHL players to surpass 1,300 games. These names include Ryan Suter, Brent Burns, Anze Kopitar, Alexander Ovechkin, Corey Perry, Sidney Crosby, Jordan Staal, Marc-Edouard Vlasic, and Patrick Kane.
