The NHL had a simple three-game slate on Friday that saw neither shutouts nor overtime play, but fans in Anaheim had a reunion with their former long-term goalie!

Avalanche 4-2 Golden Knights

Colorado's Martin Necas (8) recorded a goal and two assists in his first game after signing an eight-year contract extension with the Avs on Thursday.

Necas scored the first goal just 41 seconds into the game. Teammate Brock Nelson (3) would score in the second to put the Avs up 2-0 before the Knights responded with a goal of their own from Tomas Hertl (5) on the power play.

The 4-year-old Brent Burns (1) scored his first on the season, assisted by Necas, to put the Avs up 3-1. But Vegas' Mitch Marner (3) responded under a minute after Burns' to cut the lead to 3-2 in the third.

Necas recorded his second assist of the day when Cale Makar (4) sent home the empty-netter to put the game out of reach to give the Avs their second straight win.

Colorado now sits atop the Western Conference with a 7-1-4 record (18 points). Vegas falls to 6-2-3 (15 points).

Islanders 3-1 Capitals

After Tom Wilson (6) got the Caps on the board first, New York responded with three straight unanswered goals en route to a win.

Jean-Gabriel Pageau (3) would score New York's first with a short-handed goal before the end of the first period.

Then Bo Horvat (7) would put the Isles up 2-1 before Matthew Barzal (3), who was benched recently by head coach Patrick Roy for "personal reasons", scored the empty-netter to gift the Caps their third loss in the past five games.

Islanders goaltender would have a reel of great saves, ending with 22 on the night.

The Islanders improved to 5-5-1 (11 points), while the Caps fell to 6-5-0 (12 points).

Ducks 5-2 Red Wings

The Anaheim Ducks welcomed long-time goal John Gibson back after he spent the first 12 years of his career with the organization before joining the Red Wings this season.

And his former team showed no mercy after the heartfelt reunion to start the game.

Troy Terry (5) led the way with two goals. Others who scored for Anaheim were Leo Carlsson (5), Mason McTavish (2), and Chris Kreider (5).

Lucas Raymond (3) and Alex DeBrincat (4) scored for the Red Wings.

Detroit falls to 8-4-0 (16 points), while the Ducks improved to 6-3-1 (13 points).
