The National Hockey League (NHL) had 10 games on Tuesday night, where the Nashville Predators and Winnipeg Jets claimed narrow wins. Here is a look at how both results occurred.

Nashville Predators 4-3 Edmonton Oilers (OT)

A Roman Josi double, including the winner, helped the Nashville Predators to a 4-3 overtime success over the Edmonton Oilers. It was a key result for the Preds, who led through Steve Stamkos 2:45 into the contest.

Erik Haula gave them their second lead of the night three minutes after the first intermission, with a Zach Hyman power play goal sandwiching the Predators' first two markers.

Leon Draisaitl once again restored parity 7:20 into the second frame, before Hyman converted another man advantage situation to give the Oilers what would be their only lead of the game.

They could not hold on though, as Josi tied things up with 6:10 left before the second intermission. Then, after a scoreless third period, the 35-year-old defenseman grabbed the winner with 1:17 left in overtime to make it three wins from Nashville's last four.

The Predators go a point out of the playoff places in the Western Conference with the result. The Oilers, meanwhile, remain in fifth spot.

Winnipeg Jets 5-4 New York Islanders

The Winnipeg Jets held on for a narrow 5-4 defeat of the New York Islanders in the Manitoban capital.

It turned out to be a far more difficult victory for the Jets despite them taking a three-goal cushion in the game. Kyle Connor's first period opener was followed by Josh Morrisey and Jonathan Toews' markers early on in the second.

The Islanders rattled three goals in the space of less than three minutes to tie things up. Anthony Duclair got the scoring going, with Emil Heineman and Kyle Maclean following up to tie the score by the midway mark of the period.

Unfortunately for New York, they could not continue the momentum. Dylan DeMelo and Adam Lowry made it 5-3 for Winnipeg before the frame ended. A Matthew Schaefer goal just before the game's conclusion turned out to be a mere consolation.

It is three wins in a row for the lowly Jets, who are eight points out of a playoff spot. The Islanders still hold fifth in the East despite a second defeat from their last three.
