After the Los Angeles Kings got out to a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from Kevin Fiala (16) and Quinton Byfield (11), the Red Wings responded with emphasis scoring five straight unanswered goals to take home their fourth straight win.
Lucas Raymond (20), Alex DeBrincat (21), and Elmer Soderblom (1) scored the first three to take the lead before Marco Kasper (9) scored the final two to seal the 5-2 win. The Kings have now lost two straight and have dropped four of their last five.
Detroit are 9-5 to start the new year while the Kings are 5-6.
Canucks 5-2 Blues
Conor Garland (12) got the Canucks on the board with two goals in the first followed by another from teammate J.T. Miller (9) to start the second period before Dylan Holloway (16) got the Blues on the board.
The teams exchanged goals before Tyler Myers (3) put in the empty net dagger to earn Vancouver their second straight win. St. Louis is struggling, having now lost three straight and four of the last five. Both teams are now 5-8 since the turn of the new year and will face each other again on March 30th.
Flyers 4-2 Devils
Philly got off to a 3-0 lead early on thanks to goals from Bobby Brink (7), Joel Farabee (8), and Garnet Hathaway (7). New Jersey responded with two goals of their own from Dougie Hamilton (8) and Timo Meier (15).
But Flyers goalie Samuel Ersson put on a clinic with 31 saves as Scott Laughton (10) scored the empty-netter to put the game out of reach for New Jersey.
Despite the Devils starting off the season as one of the best teams, New Jersey have been struggling since the start of the new year. They've now lost five of their last seven and are now 4-8 in 2025. Meanwhile, the Flyers are 6-7 since the new year and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.
The two teams will meet again in two days on January 29th in New Jersey.

The Edmonton Oilers overcame a 2-1 deficit to beat the Seattle Kraken 4-2. Connor McDavid (21) notched a goal in his first game back from the three-game suspension.
Mattias Janmark (2), Corey Perry (9), and Mattias Ekholm (7) scored the other three goals for Edmonton while Eeli Tolvanen (13) and Vince Dunn (10) scored for Seattle.
