It was a night for defences in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) as three sides - Vaxjo, Farjestad and Orebro - all recorded wins with a clean sheet, while another two sides only conceded once, including Frolunda, who stayed top of the pile by beating Timra.

Frolunda are not only the league leaders, but the form side, as no other team has three wins on the spin right now. In front of their home crowd, Jacob Peterson and Noah Dower Nilsson gave them a 2-0 lead in the first period, which Arttu Ruotsalainen extended in the first minute of the second.

Anton Wedin looked to have given Timra a chance of a comeback four minutes later, but despite multiple powerplay opportunities in the final 20 minutes, the visitors could not eat further into the lead, as the Gothenburg side ran out 3-1 winners.

It's a10th victory from 12 matches in the SHL for Frolunda, while a first loss in three outings sees Timra drop a place to fifth.

The team replacing Timra in the top four are Vaxjo, for whom Ludvig Nilsson and Lukas Elvenes both scored in the second period away at Linkoping, who could not find a way past Ludvig Persson - he made 17 saves as the Lakers ran out 2-0 winners.

That ends a run of three consecutive losses for Vaxjo, while Linkoping sit ninth following successive defeats.

Farjestad have been in inconsistent form but they will be aiming to build on tonight's 3-0 win away at Leksand, where visiting goaltender Melker Thelin saved all 28 of the shots that came his way.

At the other end, Radim Zohorna and Per Aslund struck in the opening period before Luke Philp completed the scoring in the third, condemning Leksand to a fourth loss in a row, keeping them in the bottom two.

Completing the shutout club was Jhonas Enroth, who made 25 stops as Orebro ended Lulea's three-match winning run in style by taking a 3-0 home victory.

Patrik Puistola and Egor Polin did the damage in the first 10 minutes, then Teemu Turunen sealed back-to-back wins for Orebro late in the second period, as they climb from the bottom two into the top 10 in the space of 60 minutes of hockey.

A 3-1 loss at Djurgarden saw Brynas drop back out of the Playoff positions and keep the new boys in the top six, and Rogle stayed second in the standings by edgind last-placed HV 71, 3-2.

No side in the SHL has worse form than Malmo - after five wins in a row, it's now five losses in a row for the Redhawks - they fall to 12th having been beaten 5-1 at Skelleftea, who stay in third place, five points off the pace.
