Philadelphia Phillies All-Star slugger Kyle Schwarber blasted his 50th home run of the season on Tuesday night, becoming just the second player ever in franchise history to achieve the feat.

Schwarber joins Phillies power-hitting legend Ryan Howard as the only two in franchise history to hit at least 50 home runs in a season.

He now needs nine more home runs to set the record for most ever in a season by a Phillies player - Howard with 58 in 2006.

Schwarber now joins Seattle Mariners All-Star Cal Raleigh as the only players (so far) this season to reach 50 home runs. However, Schwarber has a commanding lead as he tops all batters in the majors with 123 RBI on the season, blowing out last year's 38-104 numbers.

Philly's slugger was also the National League savior at this year's All-Star Game in the first-ever swing off.

The 32-year-old Schwarber is set to be a free agent at the end of the season and is undoubtedly in for a gigantic payday as one of the game's best power hitters.

The Phillies currently boast the second-best record in the National League at 84-60.
