Looking for their 10th league win of the campaign, Sociedad started much more adventurously, but nearly went a goal down when Victor Munoz headed Rafael Moro’s cross off the post and out.
That was the spark La Real needed, and they had their first meaningful chance when Mikel Oyarzabal was found wide open in the box, but he could only direct his shot wide of the mark from point-blank range.
The goals did eventually come though, the first through a penalty when Oyarzabal converted from the spot after Enzo Boyomo handled the ball.
A few minutes later, Goncalo Guedes doubled his side’s lead as he cut in from the left wing and was afforded too much space to shoot – the Portuguese winger made no mistake in finding the bottom corner as Sergio Herrera was rooted to the spot.
Los Rojillos nearly got a goal back before the break, but Aimar Oroz’s curling effort was cut out by Alex Remiro.
They didn’t use that to fuel a fightback in the second half, and Sociedad made it 3-0 just seven minutes after the restart. Their killer third originated from some brilliant work by Beñat Turrientes, as he beat several Osasuna defenders before picking out Guedes, who fired into the top corner past a helpless Herrera.
While the visitors seldom created a lot in the attacking third, they managed to score thanks to some brilliant combination play from Victor Munoz, who received the return pass from Kike Barja to blast a powerful shot past Remiro from a tight angle.
Sociedad held firm to the end though, for an eighth unbeaten home game in succession. Meanwhile, Los Rojillos – who also were knocked out of the Copa del Rey by La Real – are without a win in their last three, with their European ambitions taking a hit.
