Como bounced back from successive defeats in Serie A by running out comprehensive 3-0 winners away at Lecce, claiming a third successive H2H victory since returning to the top-flight.

While it was a quiet opening from both sides, it was Cesc Fabregas’ visitors who made the early running.

Having produced a few tame efforts on target, Como took the lead in the 21st minute through star man Nico Paz, who bagged his sixth goal of the league season with a strike from distance that was slightly deflected past Wladimiro Falcone

Lecce’s response was muted to say the least, with the home fans left frustrated at seeing just one shot on target from their side before the break.

Boss Eusebio Di Francesco clearly shared in their displeasure, as he was dismissed from the touchline after a confrontation with the referee to make the Giallorossi’s job that bit harder.

The second half began in a similar vein, but Lecce gradually began to push harder for an equaliser, with Youssef Maleh going close after a searching cross from a free-kick saw multiple home players find space at the back post, but the finish failed to find the target.

Como battled through a tricky period following the restart and were rewarded for their tenacity when they doubled their lead against the run of play. Jacobo Ramon netted his second of the season, tapping in at the back post after Lecce failed to clear a free-kick into their box.

That second goal seemed to break Lecce’s spirit, and Fàbregas was celebrating again soon after, as Anastasios Douvikas scored his fourth of the campaign in the 75th minute to put the game to bed.

It was, unsurprisingly, Paz who made the difference with a clever through ball, but the finish from the 26-year-old was clinical and rounded off the scoring.

Victory for Como moves them back into the European places, rising to sixth place provisionally ahead of Bologna, who they lead by two points, having played a game more.

Lecce can take some stock in knowing they are four points clear of the bottom three, but facing Juventus, Roma, Inter and AC Milan in four of the next five games could change the narrative.
