Corinthians forward Memphis Depay posted a lengthy message to X on Saturday evening, making it clear that he intends to remain with the club after the World Cup. "My priority is Corinthians period since the beginning and that goes beyond the World Cup," he stated.

Memphis confirmed he will not be available for this Sunday’s derby at Neo Quimica Arena against Palmeiras, as he has not recovered from a grade two muscle injury in his right thigh.

In his post, he suggested that setbacks during his recovery have kept him sidelined, forcing him to miss one of the most important matches of the year to date.

"I pushed to play tomorrow but unfortunately it’s not possible because some errors… This is painful and frustrated.. But again the players can’t talk about it but are the one that get the blame. Wrong!" he wrote.

"You can’t just curse players out because we getting injured.. We have to look into it deeper and ask questions," he added in the extensive post.

Corinthians currently sit 16th in the Brazilian Serie A, just above the relegation zone, and have been without Memphis since March 23rd, when he suffered the thigh injury during the match against Flamengo.

Recently, the player was warned for using his cell phone on the bench during that match, explaining that he was in contact with the Dutch national team’s medical staff, as he is considered one of the key players for their World Cup squad.
