As part of the deal, the Pistons received guard Kevin Huerter and centre Dario Saric, while the teams also swapped 2026 first-round protected picks with the Timberwolves.
Minnesota's part of the deal was to create tax savings and roster space, as the team has been linked this week to trade rumors regarding Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Bulls pickups
The 38-year-old Conley Jr. is averaging career-low numbers this season, putting up just 4.4 points, 2.9 assists, and 1.8 rebounds in 18.5 minutes per game this season (nine starts in 46 games).
Conley Jr. is set to be a free agent after this season. Should he sign with another team, next year would mark his 20th season in the NBA. He is also a buyout candidate, according to ESPN's Brian Windhorst, which would make him available for any team to sign him this season.
The 23-year-old Ivey, who was part of the 2023-2024 All-Rookie Team, is averaging career lows this season, putting up 8.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. However, Ivey is coming off a brutal broken leg injury that sidelined him all last season after starting in all 30 games he played in.
This year, the young sharpshooter has only started twice in 33 games for the Pistons, but is still shooting a solid 37% from three-point range. He'll be a restricted free agent after the season.
Pistons pickups
Huerter will be giving the Pistons a veteran shooter to replace Ivey. The 27-year-old is averaging 10.9 points on 45% shooting this season, while averaging 3.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists. The Albany, New York native recently came off his first double-double (15 pts, 10 reb) of the season and will be an unrestricted free agent by the end of the season
As for Saric, the veteran centre has only played in five games for the Kings since they received him in a trade with the Denver Nuggets, giving the Pistons some big-man depth on the bench.
