The Finnish leg of the 2025 World Rally Championship (WRC) is being held over 20 stages around the city of Jyvaskyla in Central Finland.
And while the opening special stage was not disrupted, traffic in the city centre was held up by Elokapina members and supporters, who were protesting the city's hosting of the event, and are trying to pressure the city not to sign a new contract to host future editions of Rally Finland.
The Police were not informed in advance of the protests, which took place in the early evening and saw 13 people arrested, with two people tied to each other by the necks with bicycle locks.
Out on the course, Estonia's Ott Tanak was fastest on the opening stage, with fellow Hyundai Shell Mobis driver, Belgium's Thierry Neuville, a further 1.3 seconds back, just ahead of France and Toyota Gazoo Racing's Sebastien Ogier.
The best local driver on the day was Toyota's Kalle Rovanpera, who sits fourth, while Sami Pajari is down in ninth place.
Tanak currently leads the WRC standings, only a point clear of Great Britain's Elfyn Evans.
