The New York Islanders came up two goals short of tying the franchise record in their dominant 9-0 shutout win over the New Jersey Devils, while Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid scored his 14th career hat trick.

Islanders 9-0 Devils

Despite being outshot 44-24, the Islanders improved to 24-15-4 after falling just two goals short of their franchise record of 11 in one game.

They were led by Anthony Duclair (7), who scored a natural hat trick, and Casey Cizikas (5), who found the net twice.

Islanders goaltender Ilya Sorokin recorded his 26th career shutout and the fourth of the season, becoming the franchise's all-time leader in shutouts.

The Isles are now winners of back-to-back games and now sit in second in the Metropolitan Division. Meanwhile, the Devils fell to 22-19-2.

Oilers 6-2 Predators

McDavid put up his 14th hat trick to lift the Oilers to a 21-16-6 record. He extended his point streak to a stellar 16 games. McDavid has also recorded at least one goal or one assist in 37 of his 44 games this season.

He now leaps Nathan MacKinnon (74) to become the first player in the NHL to reach 75 points on the season, leading the league in assists (47) and second in goals (28).

Nashville dropped to 19-19-4.

Lightning 4-2 Avalanche

Zemgus Girgensons (6) tied it up 2-2 for the Lightning before heading into the final frame, where goals from Brandon Hagel (20) and Anthony Cirelli (12) would eventually give Tampa the win.

Tampa handed the No. 1 Colorado Avalanche only their fourth regulation loss of the season, as they fell to 31-4-7.

As for the Lightning, they sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 26-13-3 record.

Flyers 5-2 Ducks

Trevor Zegras (17) scored twice in the first period to help the Flyers take down his former team.

After Cutter Gauthier (20) put the Ducks up 1-0, Philly responded with four straight goals of their own, two from Zegras, to take a commanding 4-1 lead heading into the final frame.

Alex Killorn (4) would score a power play goal for the Ducks just 1:25 into the third, but Nikita Grebenkin's (3) empty-netter sealed the deal as the Flyers 22-12-7.

The Ducks are now riding a seven-game losing streak as they dropped to 21-19-3.

Sabres 5-3 Canucks

Despite the Canucks almost stringing together a rally after scoring three straight goals in the third period, Buffalo first four to start the game 4-0, with Josh Doan's (13) empty-netter as the cherry on top, was enough to secure their 11th win in the past 12 games.

Buffalo keeps climbing the standings ladder as they improved to 22-15-4.

Vancouver fell to 16-21-5.

Hurricanes 6-3 Stars

Andrei Svechnikov recorded four assists for a new single-game career high in Tuesday's win over the Stars, who have now lost six straight games.

Two of Svechnikov's assists came on K'Andre Miller's (4) pair, the first being the one to put them up 1-0, and the other to make it 4-1.

Meanwhile, two of Dallas' three goals were scored on the power play, but it wasn't enough as they dropped to 25-10-8, still holding strong as the No. 2 team in the league.

Carolina improved to 26-14-3.

Leafs 4-1 Panthers

Auston Matthews (21) scored his sixth goal in three games to put the Leafs up to a 3-0 lead that Florida couldn't find a way back from. It was his 422nd career goal, making him the all-time franchise goal scorer.

Carter Verhaeghe (12) scored the lone goal for the Panthers as they fell to 22-17-3, while the Leafs improved to 20-15-7.

Golden Knights 4-3 Jets

The Knights handed Winnipeg their 10th-straight loss after Tomas Hertl (16) scored the game-winning, power-play goal in overtime with just 12 seconds remaining.

Winnipeg fell to an NHL-worst 15-21-5, a year removed from being crowned for having the best record in the NHL.

Vegas improved to 18-11-12 as Mark Stone extended his point streak to five games after scoring his 13th goal of the season.

Seattle Kraken 7-4 Boston Bruins
