Jack Quinn scored his first career hat trick during the Buffalo Sabres' win over the San Jose Sharks during the NHL's slate of action on Tuesday.

Jack Quinn finished the game with three goals and an assist in the Sabres' dominant 6-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres. It is now the second time the Sabres have reached 40 wins in a season in the past 15 years. They now sit just two points below the Canes for the top spot in the Eastern Conference. 

Over in Colorado, Connor McDavid (36) scored the eventual game-winner that lifted the Oilers to a 4-3 win over the NHL's best Avalanche. The win ended the Avs' five-game win streak as the Oilers sit three points behind the Ducks for the Pacific Division lead.

In Detroit, Carter Verhaeghe (19) scored back-to-back goals late in the final 1:30 of the third period to give the team a thrilling 4-3 win over the Red Wings, who still hold the top Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference.

Staying out West, the Anaheim Ducks scored three straight goals in a 1:44 span during the second period of their 4-1 win over the Winnipeg Jets as they maintain their lead in the Pacific Division. 

The Dallas Stars maintained their 13-point streak thanks to a pair of goals from Oskar Back (5) and Jamie Benn (12) in the second period in their 2-1 win over the Vegas Golden Knights

The New York Rangers shut out the Calgary Flames 4-0 thanks to 21 saves from goalie Jonathan Quick and a hat trick from Alexis Lafreniere (18). It's Quick's second shutout of the season, 65th of his career, while it was Lafreniere's second career hat trick.

In Carolina, the Canes blew a two-goal lead late in the third period but recovered with a 5-4 shootout win against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Andrei Svechnikov and Jackson Blake scored in the shootout for Carolina as they maintain the top spot in the Eastern Conference. 

Conor Garland (11) scored two goals in his second-straight game as the Columbus Blue Jackets defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-2.

Over in St. Louis, the New York Islanders comletely the rally of the night after being down three goals to win it 4-3 over the St. Louis Blues. 

Minnesota Wild goaltender Filip Gustavsson recorded his fifth shutout of the season as his squad took down the Utah Mammoth 5-0, effectively ending their four-game point streak. 

In another incredible goalie performance, the Nashville Predators earned a 4-2 win over the Seattle Kraken after Juuse Saros recorded a whopping 43 saves. Nashville's Ryan Ufko also scored his first career goal that put Nashville up 3-2 before heading into the third period.
