Meanwhile, the Caps remain on the outside of the playoff picture looking in as they fell to 35-27-9, sitting five points behind the Red Wings for the second spot in the Eastern Conference Wild Card.

Predators 3-2 Blackhawks

After the Blackhawks took a 2-1 lead in the second, Nashville's veteran Steven Stamkos scored his 34th of the season to send it to overtime. Teammate Filip Forsberg would socre his 32nd, also his second of the game, to give Nashville the win.

Forsberg led the way with three points, also recording an assist on Stamkos' goal, as the Preds improved to 33-28-9, riding a four-game win streak.

Jets 3-2 Rangers

After Gabriel Vilardi (27) put the Jets up 2-1 in the second on the power play, New York's Mika Zibanejad (30) would score a power play goal of his own to tie it all up.

But after a scoreless third and overtime, it was Kyle Connor and Gabriel Vilardi who scored during the shootout as the Jets improved to 29-29-12.

Meanwhile, the Rangers remain the worst team in the East with a 28-33-9 record.

Hurricanes 5-1 Penguins

The Canes would put up four straight goals across the first and second period that put the game out of reach early on. Seth Jarvis led the way with a goal and two assists, making it his fourth three-point game this season.
