Defenceman Quinn Hughes scored a goal in his debut for the Minnesota Wild after being traded earlier this week, while Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Brandon Bussi won his ninth straight start on a wild December 14th of hockey!

Wild 6-2 Bruins

After being traded from the Vancouver Canucks to the Wild in a blockbuster trade, defenceman Quinn Hughes scored in his team debut at the start of the third period.

Jared Spurgeon (2), Kirill Kaprizov (19), and Ryan Hartman (6) got the Wild out to a 3-0 lead before Hughes put them up 4-0.

Matt Boldy (18) would tack on some extra insurance to put them up 5-0 before Alex Steeves (7) finally got the Bruins on the board.

Kaprizov (20) would score his second goal of the game to put the Wild up 6-1. Andrew Peeke (2) would score for the Bruins with one second left as they ultimately fell to 19-14-0 on the season.

Minnesota extended their win streak to four as they improved to 21-7-5.

Hurricanes 3-2 Flyers

William Carrier (3) and Taylor Hall (7) got their Canes out to an early 2-0 lead. But the Flyers rallied with a pair of goals from Jamie Drysdale (3) and Trevor Zegras (13) to send it into overtime.

After a scoreless OT, it was Andrei Svechnikov who scored the game-winner during the shootout as the Canes won their fourth straight during Seth Jarvis' return to the lineup. They now sit atop the Eastern Conference with a 21-9-2 record.

Bussi recorded 24 saves as he has now won nine straight starts.

Philly dropped their third-straight overtime/shootout loss as they fell to 16-9-5.

Mammoth 5-4 Penguins

After Pittsburgh got out to what was thought to be a commanding 3-0 lead, Utah rallied for four straight goals during the third period.

Nate Schmidt (2), Michael Carcone (5), Sean Durzi (1), and Michael Carcone (6) all scored for Utah in the third, before Pittsburgh's Justin Brazeau (8) tied it up to send it into OT where the Mammoth capitalized.

Dylan Guenther scored his 15th goal of the season just 42 seconds into OT to seal the comeback win for the Mammoth. They improved to 16-15-3 and have now won back-to-back games.

Pittsburgh dropped their second straight in overtime, and their fifth straight overall, as they fell to 14-8-9.

Canucks 2-1 Devils

Jake DeBrusk (9) got things started for the Canucks one minute after puck drop. His new teammate Zeev Buium (4) scored in his debut team as part of the package that sent Hughes to the Wild to put the Canucks up 2-0, holding off New Jersey in the next two periods.

Luke Hughes (3) put the Devils on the board in the second period, but it wasn't enough as they fell to 18-14-1.

Still sitting at the bottom of the league, Vancouver improved to 12-17-3 despite only putting up a total of 15 shots on goal, one in the entire third period.

Canadiens 4-1 Oilers

Four different goals were scored by four different players as the Canadiens improved to 17-11-4 on the season.

Ivan Demidov (7) and Joe Veleno (2) put the Habs up 2-0 in the second before Nick Suzuki (9) extended that lead to three in the final frame.

Zach Hyman (7) scored on the power play to put Edmonton on the board, but Alexandre Texier's second goal of the season extended Montreal's lead to three again.

Edmonton fell to 15-12-6.

Sabres 3-1 Kraken

Goals from Noah Ostlund (4), Tage Thompson (16), and a Zach Benson (2) empty-netter was all that was needed for the Sabres to pull out the win.

Chandler Stephenson (6) scored the lone goal for Seattle, as they fell to 12-12-6 after having lost back-to-back games.

Buffalo is now riding a three-game win streak as they improved to 14-14-4.
