The Minnesota Wild acquired veteran forward Nick Foligno in a trade deal with the Chicago Blackhawks on Friday.

In exchange, the Blackhawks will be receiving future considerations. Foligno, 38, is currently in his 19th season and will be joining his younger brother, Marcus (34), on the Wild

Nick has three goals and eight assists through 37 games this season - all career lows.

Nick was taken with the 28th overall pick in the 2008 NHL Draft and spent the first five years of his career with the Ottawa Senators (2007-2011). He would then spend his prime years with the Columbus Blue Jackets (2012-2020), where he earned the Mark Messier Award and King Clancy Memorial Trophy for his leadership on and off the ice.

Columbus traded him to Toronto during the 2020 season before he became a free agent, where he signed with the Boston Bruins for two years before joining the Blackhawks in 2023.

He'll now be part of a Minnesota team who rank fourth in the entire NHL and third in the Western Conference behind the Colorado Avalanche and Dallas Stars. Despite Foligno being a depth piece, the Wild are making sure they have every piece imaginable to make a Stanley Cup Finals run this year.
