The No. 5 Oregon Ducks defeated the No. 4 Texas Tech Red Raiders 23-0 on Thursday to advance in the College Football Playoff.

After No. 10 Miami upset No. 2 Ohio State last night (highlights here), teams with a bye week in the CFP are now 0-6. It is also the first time Texas Tech has been shut out in a game since their loss to Oklahoma State on November 20, 2021, which also ended 23-0.

Oregon will move on to the semifinals as they await the winner between No. 9 Alabama and No. 1 Indiana

Miami will take on the winner between No. 6 Ole Miss and No. 3 Georgia.

Full game recap + highlights

First half

The first half didn't have many offensive highlights outside of Oregon Duck kicker Atticus Sappington making both of his two field goal attempts, one from 50 yards out, as they took a 6-0 lead heading into halftime.

Oregon would put up 198 total yards in the first half, with -5 rushing yards, while holding the Texas Tech offence to 88 yards, two turnovers, and three punts. The Red Raiders' big highlight came from running back J'Koby Williams, who busted open a 50-yard run.

Texas Tech only had the ball for 7:57 in the entire first half, compared to Oregon who had it for the other 22:03, leaving the Red Raiders' defence on the field for a whopping 49 plays.

But their defence wouldn't falter, as they recorded a jaw-dropping eight tackles for loss, along with two sacks, and held up in the red zone after Oregon failed on a fourth and goal on Texas Tech's two yard line.

Their offence, however, struggled mightily as the Ducks forced both an interception and a turnover, neither of which resulted in any points.

Oregon had just one punt the entire first half as quarterback Dantre Moore went 22-for-27 passing in the half alone.

Second half

In a third quarter that saw Texas Tech punt, fumble, and fail to convert on fourth down, Oregon was similar.

In two of their three drives during the third, the Ducks failed to convert on fourth and threw an interception - except for one. They finally found paydirt when running back Jordon Davison rushed for six yards into the endzone on the team's first play after recovering a forced fumble.

And the Oregon defense would just continue to pummel the Texas Tech offence. After the Red Raiders forced an interception, they would throw one of their own in their first drive of the fourth quarter when quarterback Behren Morton took a shot to the endzone, only to end up in Brandon Finney Jr.'s hands for the second time.

Oregon would take advantage and put up six more points with two more field goals from Sappington, going 4-for-4 in the game, before Davidson ran it in for his second touchdown with no time on the clock to make it 23-0.

Texas Tech didn't eclipse 200 total yards of offence and 10 first downs until four minutes left in the game.

Finney Jr. would finish the game with six tackles and two interceptions, while Teitum Tuioti would lead the Ducks with two sacks and two tackles for loss. Dillon Thieneman and Bryce Boettcher led with 12 tackles each.

Texas Tech's Ben Roberts was the star on their defense, leading with 16 tackles, along with a tackle for loss and an interception.

Oregon would finish the game with 309 total yards, 15 first downs, four forced turnovers, and four sacks.
