Second half goals from Riccardo Orsolini and Stefan Posch helped Bologna come from behind to beat Torino 2-1 for their third consecutive win in Serie A.

Encouraged by the return of Marko Arnautovic after his successful battle against illness, the Rossoblu top scorer was close to marking his return with a goal after only 22 seconds, as Vanja Milinkovic-Savic had to be on his toes to deny the Austrian international.

However, hoping to continue their momentum after a notable victory over defending champions AC Milan, Torino were dealt an early blow when Pietro Pellegri had to be taken off after it appeared the highly sought-after striker tweaked his ankle.

In pursuit of a fourth successive victory across all competitions, Torino were given a glorious opportunity to take the lead when VAR intervened to recommend referee Antonio Giua award a penalty kick after Jhon Lucumí brought down Aleksei Miranchuk.

Heeding his colleague’s advice, Giua indeed pointed to the spot, allowing Sasa Lukic to dispatch the game's opening goal beyond the grasp of Lukasz Skorupski.

In the knowledge that each of the last five gamess  between the sides at the Stadio Renato Dall'Ara had finished level, Bologna underwent a tactical change during the interval, as Thiago Motta introduced Charalampos Lykogiannis and Emanuel Vignato into the fray, which nearly paid immediate dividends.

Moments after Milinkovic-Savic had denied Vignato, the Torino number one was helpless in preventing Bologna from levelling the contest, as another Motta alternation, Orsolini, exquisitely volleyed in Vignato’s enticing cross.

With the momentum firmly now in their favour, Bologna completed their remarkable comeback nine minutes later when on-loan TSG 1899 Hoffenheim defender Posch ghosted into the area to convert past Milinkovic-Savic at the back post.

Bologna remained composed in the concluding stages of the contest, despite Torino’s best endeavours to find a late equaliser, as victory marks only their second triumph in their last 11 league matches against their opponents.

In contrast, Torino disappointingly missed the opportunity to move within four points of the European qualification positions after only a fourth defeat in their last nine away SA matches.
