Belgium's Remco Evenepoel, as expected, won the time trial at the European Championships, 47 seconds in front of Italy's Filippo Ganna, while Denmark's Niklas Larsen claimed a sensational bronze medal 25 seconds after Ganna.

The Belgian Olympic Champion and World Champion, as expected, was in a class of his own. Evenepoel set a new fastest time and crossed the finish line as the gold medal winner of the men’s elite time trial of the 2025 European Continental Championships.

“I am really happy with my victory today, and it feels special to be on the podium here in France,” said gold medal winner Remco Evenepoel to Roadcycling.com shortly after the race.

“The wind was really strong, so it was sometimes difficult to take the corners today. Tomorrow I am going to rest and then I’ll have some good training sessions here. Later this week, I will ride Sunday’s route while taking it easy,” Evenepoel added.

Italy’s Filippo Ganna finished 47 seconds after, took silver, while Denmark’s Niklas Larsen took bronze for Denmark, to the surprise of many cycling experts.

Ethan Hayter was fourth and Josh Tarling fifth at one and two seconds behind Larsen, respectively.

Mads Pedersen ran out of energy and finished in a disappointing 15th spot.
