Melbourne Storm and Parramatta Eels have ended their legal stoush on the eve of their Round 1 clash at AAMI Park.

It appears that Lomax will not be appearing for either team unless he can successfully make some last-ditch negotiations with Parramatta Eels to return to the club with their consent.

Lomax had breached his contract at the end of 2025, the first season of a four-year term, to seek a release for participation in Mike Tindall's controversial R360 rugby competition, which has had its inaugural season delayed from 2026 to no sooner than 2028.

The uncertainty surrounding the future of the unsanctioned tournament led Lomax to pursue other rugby league opportunities such as an approach from Craig Bellamy's Melbourne Storm.

Parramatta and Melbourne could not come to an agreement regarding compensation paid to the Eels for Lomax's release and their stoush was set to continue in the NSW Supreme Court on Tuesday.

It was reported during the ongoing saga that Melbourne had refused a player swap proposed by Parramatta, whilst the Eels knocked back a Storm offer of $300,000 in the form of $211,000 salary cap relief and $89,000 cash.

On Tuesday morning, Lomax and Parramatta agreed to the original terms of his contract release.

Parramatta agreed that Lomax will be entitled to return to the club in 2028, which was to be the final year of his four-year contract, without their consent.

They will need to agree in written form for him to return any earlier than 2028, with the potential of further talks remaining.

Lomax will not be permitted to sign with any other club throughout the entirety of his previous Parramatta contract, which was due to expire in November 2028.

Melbourne Storm will be required to pay $250,000 to the Eels to cover their legal costs.
