The unsettled 23-year-old has agreed to move to Redcliffe on a one-year contract.

An already exciting Dolphins backline will be further boosted by the dynamic and flexible six-time Queensland representative, who can play across a variety of outside back positions.

Cobbo was reportedly offered just $300,000 to stay at the Broncos next year owing to the salary cap squeeze the Brisbane-based club faces following lucrative deals for both Kotoni Staggs and Adam Reynolds.

His contract at Redcliffe is believed to be in the vicinity of $500,000, making the not so arduous 45 minute move north of Brisbane a no-brainer.

Cobbo joins a backline already blessed with some thrilling talent with both Origin and Test experience such as Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Herbie Farnworth, Jamayne Isaako and Jack Bostock.

Dolphins’ CEO Terry Reader described Cobbo as "an accomplished player who has done some amazing things at both Origin and NRL level".

The Dolphins have always said we are about continuing to build a roster that will make us one of the top teams in the NRL,” Reader said in a club statement.

"We believe he has untapped potential to go to even greater heights in our game and are excited about what he can do in a Dolphins jersey.

Cobbo will see out the 2025 season at Brisbane before reporting to Dolphins' pre-season training in mid-November.

His decision to accept the insecurity of a one-year deal has left some league fans confused and perplexed, though there's no doubting he'll be a highly sought after figure in years to come after both the St George Illawarra Dragons and North Queensland Cowboys expressed their interest in signing him for 2026.
