Christian Pulisic scored twice as AC Milan fought back from 2-0 down to beat Torino 3-2 and return to the top of Serie A, stretching their unbeaten league run to 13 matches in the process (W9).

Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri watched from the stands as he served a one-match touchline ban following his red card in the 1-0 win over Lazio last time out, and he would not have liked what he saw early on.

Fikayo Tomori handled the ball as he tussled with Torino striker Ché Adams in the penalty area, convincing referee Daniele Chiffi to point to the spot.

Mike Maignan got a glove to Nikola Vlašić’s penalty as he dived low to his left, but he could not stop the Croatia international giving the hosts a 10th-minute lead.

The Rossoneri were shell-shocked after conceding before half time for only the fourth time in Serie A this term, and Torino capitalised. Vlašić turned provider seven minutes later as he found Duván Zapata, and the Colombian’s powerful effort went right through Maignan.

It was the striker’s eighth goal versus Milan, and his third in three starts against them in Torino colours. Milan needed some inspiration, and midfielder Adrien Rabiot provided it.

There appeared to be little danger when the France midfielder received possession in the 24th minute, but his swerving, dipping strike gave Torino goalkeeper Franco Israel no chance as it flew into the top corner.

The visitors started the second half with more purpose, and Torino were grateful to Israel for a stunning double save 10 minutes after the restart, with the goalkeeper first parrying Davide Bartesaghi’s header and then blocking Samuele Ricci’s follow-up effort.

Milan did not have to wait long for the equaliser, though, as Pulisic made an immediate impact after being introduced into the fray.

The substitute had been on the pitch for a matter of seconds when a cross fell his way in the 67th minute, and he finished calmly from close range for his sixth Serie A goal of the season.

Milan looked more likely to win it, and Pulisic completed the comeback 10 minutes later. Ricci burst down the right, producing a perfect cross for the USA international to fire home, making him the league’s joint-top scorer in the process.

This result means Milan return to the top of the table on goal difference above Napoli, while Torino end the weekend 16th, with their winless league run now standing at six games (D3).
