Como moved into the Serie A top six after a brace from Jayden Addai helped the Biancoblu to an emphatic 5-1 victory at Torino, bringing an abrupt end to the hosts’ six-match unbeaten run in the process.

Unbeaten in their last 10 competitive outings (W4, D6), Como started on the front foot against Torino, with Alvaro Morata directing a close-range header wide of the target when well-placed in the box.

The hosts gradually grew into the contest as the first half progressed, and they created a couple of notable openings, only for Adrien Tameze and Duvan Zapata to miss the target with their respective efforts.

Having yet to open the scoring on the road this season, Cesc Fabregas’ men went close to a breakthrough shortly before the half-hour mark, as Ivan Smolcic saw a close-range strike superbly blocked, while Morata’s follow-up effort was denied by Alberto Paleari.

Undeterred, Como continued to probe for an opener and their persistence was duly rewarded in the 36th minute when Addai tapped home from eight yards after brilliant work by Jesus Rodriguez

The visitors’ lead was short-lived, however, as Rodriguez was harshly penalised for handball in the box, allowing Nikola Vlasic to sweep home the resulting penalty and restore parity on the stroke of half-time.

That setback did little to stem Como’s momentum, and Fabregas’ side regained the lead within seven minutes of the restart.

This time, Addai fired a clinical strike into the bottom corner from range for his second of the evening.

Armed with the advantage, the visitors moved through the gears with time ticking into the final half-hour, and they soon put the game beyond doubt with two goals in the space of six minutes.

First, Jacobo Ramon rose highest in the six-yard box to convert from Maximo Perrone’s inch-perfect delivery, before Nico Paz coolly slotted home Como’s fourth after another superb pass by Perrone.

The Biancoblu eased through the closing stages, even adding a fifth through substitute Martin Baturina’s breakaway run and finish, extending their unbeaten away run to five matches (W2, D3).
