Auckland's marquee Japanese right-back was the star of Round 12 as Auckland remained unbeaten on the road.

Here are the eleven top performers (by position) from Round 12 of the A-League, according to Flashscore's in-house player rating system.

GK: James Delianov - Newcastle Jets (7.9)

Delianov recorded the highest player rating of the match for the second time in four rounds - and could have had a third in the win over Auckland were it not for a yellow card dragging it down - in an excellent performance at AAMI Park.

He faced only three shots on target but saved them all, in addition to making four clearances and passing at 74% accuracy.

LB: Isaac Hughes - Wellington Phoenix (8.2)

8.2 is a career-best A-League rating for the 21-year-old 44-gamer, who pulled the deficit back with a well-directed header from a second-half corner kick.

That was on top of an already solid defensive effort in which he won six of his eight individual duels, both tackle attempts, made five clearances and four out of six accurate long passes. A solid all-round effort.

Sydney FC's Ben Garuccio, Player of the Match against Macarthur with 8.0 for five clearances and a passing accuracy of 84%, is very unlucky to have been shaded out!

CB: Anthony Pantazopoulos - Western Sydney Wanderers (8.2)

Shaping up to be one of the best if not the best centre-backs in the competition, Wanderers' mainstay Pantazopoulos was our Player of the Match for a fourth time in his last A-League games.

He contributed to the Wanderers' surprise clean sheet and 1-0 win over the Victory with an outstanding 15 clearances, more than twice as much as any other player.

CB: Panagiotis Kikianis - Adelaide United (7.8)

Kikianis makes his first TOTW appearance of the season with a solid shift in Wellington in which he engaged in 14 duels and won nine of them (including eight of ten at ground level) and topped both the interception (two) and clearance (11) counts for both teams.

RB: Hiroki Sakai - Auckland FC (8.9*)

Auckland's 35-year-old Japanese star registered an assist for a second consecutive match, having managed four in 31 A-League games prior to that double, and kept tremendously busy by touching the ball more times (76) than any other player and engaging in 11 duels, winning every single one of them.

Add to that three interceptions, seven clearances and six out of nine accurate long passes, and it's little wonder he's the star of the round.

LM: Patrick Wood - Sydney FC (7.8)

Few players are testament to the enviable depth in their A-League clubs quite like Pat Wood is at the moment.

Wood couldn't break into Ufuk Talay's starting side despite scoring in successive games against the Jets and Mariners off the bench earlier in the season and it took an injury to Al Hassan Toure last weekend to find some space for him in the run-on side this weekend.

He pounced on the opportunity and guaranteed himself a start for next weekend with the third goal of Sydney's away demolition of the Bulls.t

CM: Lachlan Brook - Auckland FC (8.4)

Brook has qualified for our Team of the Week for the fourth time in seven rounds and continues to notch up goal contributions week by week, sharing equal-second place in the Golden Boot race with teammate Sam Cosgrove.

Brook's five A-League goals have all come within his last eight appearances and this was by far his best from a ratings perspective, notching up four shots and scoring with his only one on target.

Three came from outside the box as he tried to be industrious against a Brisbane defence that is excellent at bedding down and reducing opportunities inside the box, whilst the other from inside the right corner turned out to be what we consider unfortunate to not be the Goal of the Week.

CM: Piero Quispe - Sydney FC (7.8)

Quispe has been offered plenty of patience by Sky Blues coach Ufuk Talay, who often talks about the pressure placed on visa players to deliver immediately, and Talay's faith was repaid at the weekend with the 24-year-od Peruvian's debut goal.

Piero also passed at an excellent 88% accuracy throughout the game, acting as their central midfield general.

RM: Tim Payne - Wellington Phoenix (7.4)

Tim Payne had an interesting return after missing three months with a broken collarbone. According to Wellington-based sports reporter Phillip Rollo, Payne had been set to play 60 minutes in his comeback game only for manager Giancarlo Italiano to ask him for one final burst at the hour-mark.

How crucial that turned out to be, and Payne's assist along with three accurate crosses saw him return the best rating of all right midfielders this weekend.

FW: Tom Lawrence - Perth Glory (8.3)

The Welshman is proving to be every bit the asset Adam Griffiths hoped he would be, contributing directly to two of the Glory's three goals in their easy 3-0 win over the Mariners.

Now with five goals and two assists in his last eight appearances for his new club, Lawrence is oozing class on an almost weekly basis, picking up Player of the Match marks twice in three outings.

FW: Sam Cosgrove - Auckland FC (7.7)

Auckland's English striker has been a regularly consistent performer and another man who appears to be too good for this level, returning a rating of 7.5+ out of 10 in eight of his last ten games to shape up as a Team of the Season contender.

He added his fifth A-League goal in the Black Knights' 2-0 win in Brisbane, contributing four of the team's 14 shots in their big victory.
