After apologising to an Adelaide supporters' group on Facebook for last round's shocking miss, Adelaide United striker Luka Jovanovic made the ultimate amends with the best performance of the weekend.

Here are the eleven top performers (by position) from Round 20 of the A-League, according to Flashscore's in-house player rating system.

GK: Lawrence Thomas - Western Sydney Wanderers (7.7)

The algorithm selecting a goalkeeper from a 2-2 draw rather than someone with a clean sheet might appear odd, but Thomas saved six of eight shots from the Jets as well as recording a shot on target himself!

LB: Ben Garuccio - Sydney FC (8.1)

Garuccio was the only man of the game to create multiple 'big chances' as per our definition, one of which set up Sydney's first goal of the second half. He touched the ball more times (85) than any other player and accurately landed four crosses, also more than anyone else on the pitch.

CB: Mark Natta - Newcastle Jets (8.1)

Natta posted five clearances in the 2-2 draw as well as 56 passes - the second-most of the match - including four accurate passes in the final third.

CB: Bart Vriends - Adelaide United (7.9)

Vriends' rating got a big boost from his astonishing passing accuracy of 96% and his 71 ball touches - the third-most of the match - whilst he won five of his six goals, all three attempted tackles and registered 11 clearances.

RB: Callum Talbot - Macarthur FC (7.9)

Macarthur's no-nonsense right back is one of the most regular sights in our A-League Team of the Week and he and Mitch Duke were the only two Bulls to register match ratings in the 7s during a humbling loss to the Mariners.

Talbot registered 45 accurate passes - second only to Anthony Caceres' 65 in central midfield - and his rating was heavily boosted by creating three of Macarthur's four 'big chances'.

LM: Ryan Fraser - Western Sydney Wanderers (8.4)

Fraser once again elevated himself above the standards of this league with six of his seven games for the Wanderers seeing him either score or assist for an average of 88 minutes per goal contribution.

CM: Ahmet Arslan - Sydney FC (8.3)

As our Player of the Match for the Big Blue, the German opened his A-League account in his fifth game for the Sky Blues with what was easily his best performance so far, illustrated by a match-high six goals, 1.21 xG and his 14 accurate passes in the final third was close to a game-best.

CM: Luca Tevere - Perth Glory (8.2)

The 24-year-old burst into the A-League after scoring in three consecutive Australia Cup matches for Victorian NPL club Avondale last August, including twice against current A-League leaders Newcastle, and he was the Player of the Match against Auckland for assisting both of the Jets' goals in a 2-2 draw.

RM: Eli Adams - Newcastle Jets (8.0)

Adams went through a quiet patch after a very productive January but recorded his first 8+ rating in five appearances with the Jets' second-half equaliser. He topped or shared the best match stats for shots (five), xG (0.75), touches in the opposition box (nine) and successful dribbles (two).

FW: Luka Jovanovic - Adelaide United (8.6*)

Jovanovic had a sleepless week after missing a sitter last round but there was no mistake this time when equalising for the Reds at home on Friday night with one of his seven shots - three of which were on target and three of which were blocked. He touched the ball eight times in the opposition box and recorded a game-best four dribbles in addition to passing with 89% accuracy.

Little wonder then that he is our Player of the Week, and we're rapt for one of the A-League's humble good guys.

FW: Apostolos Stamatelopoulos - Sydney FC (8.1)

"Stamma" kept himself tremendously busy against the Victory with a game-high ten touches of the ball in the opposition box, creating a big chance and scoring with one of his two shots on target.
