The AFL and NRL finals are fast approaching, whilst our basketballers continue to chase Asia Cup glory in Saudi Arabia. Here are all the major events for this coming week to add to your Favourites section on the website or app!

AFL

The penultimate home and away round of the AFL begins on Thursday night at Marvel Stadium, which will end the weekend with the Western Bulldogs fighting for eighth when they host wooden spoon favourites West Coast.

Keep an eye out on Thursday night for our weekly predictions and the team lists as well as our weekly round review each Monday.

The 2025 AFLW season also gets underway on Thursday night with traditional rivals Carlton and Collingwood doing battle at Ikon Park, and as always Flashscore will have live scores of every match throughout the AFLW season.

NRL

The NRL has four rounds to go and there are some very tasty fixtures scheduled for this week, beginning with the in-form pair of Penrith Panthers and Melbourne Storm going head-to-head on Thursday night.

There's also another south-east Queensland derby as an undermanned Brisbane Broncos fight for their campaign with a new halves pairing against a Dolphins side even more desperate to win.

Here are the team lists for the round

Panthers (4th) v Storm (2nd)

Warriors (5th) v Dragons (11th)

Roosters (9th) v Bulldogs (3rd)

Sharks (7th) v Titans (17th)

Broncos (6th) v Dolphins (8th)

Rabbitohs (16th) v Eels (13th)

Tigers (12th) v Sea Eagles (10th)

Cowboys (14th) v Knights (15th)

Rugby Championship

After taking a single weekend off to digest their hard-fought 2-1 series loss to the British & Irish Lions, the Wallabies flew out to South Africa on Tuesday to prepare for two Rugby Championship away fixtures against the world champion Springboks.

They will take on South Africa in Johannesburg this Saturday and in Cape Town next Saturday, with both games to kick off at the very unsociable time of 1:10am AEST Sunday morning - which of course is a bit more manageable for those of us out west!

The Wallabies had their worst ever Championship last year, losing five out of six matches, but Australian rugby look sin much better shape now both at franchise and international level than it did 12 months ago and there is renewed optimism that Australia can at least be competitive with the Springboks and All Blacks this year.

Cricket

Winter cricket continues in the top end when the white ball action between Australia and South Africa moves to Cairns for the third T20I on Saturday, following the second game in Darwin on Tuesday night.

We'll have match previews on Flashscore News for every game, as we did for Game 2. They're worth a read!

Second T20I (Darwin, Tuesday)

Third T20I (Cairns, Saturday)

Basketball

The Boomers cruised through the group stages of the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup as expected and remain standout outright favourites to lift the trophy.

At 9pm on Wednesday night AEST, we'll be taking on the Philippines, who are amongst the rank outsiders of the eight remaining nations, in the quarter-finals. Let's hope event organisers have bolted down all the chairs after that infamous brawl in 2018.

Should they advance, Australia's semi-final will be on at 9pm Saturday night AEST, and the final at 2am on Monday morning (ugh).

Tennis

We still have some players alive in the 2025 Cincinnati Open, which as with most tennis tournaments in the USA works out well for those of us in a position to be able to follow the scores during work hours!

Rank number 19 Alexei Popyrin is in action overnight against number 11 Andrey Rublev but is in with a shout after some impressive wins this past fortnight including against Daniil Medvedev in Toronto.

26-year-old Adam Walton is in career-best form and has shot up to number 80 in the ATP rankings. Ironically, he beat Medvedev in three sets on Monday morning to get here, so it makes for a fascinating formline when the two Aussies eventually next meet. Walton is an outsider against Czech Jiří Lehečka.

Don't forget we have previews of every match of the tournament, so click below to take a look ahead of Wednesday's action.

Alexei Popyrin v Andrey Rublev (Wednesday)

Darts

The PDC World Series of Darts moves from Wollongong to New Zealand, where young world number one Luke Littler will be looking to record his second World Series victory of the year after triumphing in New South Wales last weekend.

It’s not gone to plan this year in the World Series but there are plenty of opportunities to win and I’ve finally picked one up,” Littler said after lifting the trophy.

A few days off and then Auckland, I can’t wait."

Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock will again be flying the flag for Australia in the New Zealand Darts Masters.

Motorsport

You won't have to wait up too late to catch the next MotoGP race from Austria where World Championship leader Marc Márquez is looking to record a sixth consecutive race win and his tenth for the season already.

From a patriotic perspective, keep an eye on Jack Miller, who last week registered his fourth top-ten finish of the season to move to 14th in the World Championship standings.
