VfL Wolfsburg's Danish sports director Peter 'PC' Christiansen was, according to German media "Kicker", involved in a heated argument on Wednesday with goalkeeper Marius Müller, after the keeper had been very critical in his statements towards his own team, who were knocked out of the German Cup tournament, the "DFB Pokal" on Tuesday.

Wolfsburg, who have no less than six Danish players in the squad (Christian Eriksen, Adam Daghim, Jonas Wind, Jesper Lindstrom, Joachim Maehle, and Andreas Skov Olsen), won their second game in the German Bundesliga the past weekend, when they came away from HSV's Volksparkstadion with a very fortunate 1-0 win.

But it didn't last long before the smiles vanished in the Wolfsburg club again when they were sent crashing out of the German Cup by Holstein Kiel

Goalkeeper Marius Müller subsequently said that the flattering success at Hamburg had been misinterpreted by some teammates. "We didn't understand what happened in Hamburg on Saturday. We didn't understand it. We thought, now the crisis is over, and now we'll just get rid of Kiel during the week, and then it'll be fine. No, it's football, and we have to slowly understand that."

According to German sources, the tension between players is sky-high at Wolfsburg. Groups of players don't agree with each other. There is boundless indifference among parts of the team. A sense of carelessness has sneaked into the squad during the week and on matchdays, which is ultimately reflected on the pitch.

Müller emphasized on Tuesday: "You can't do more than kick the boys' asses during the week, try to teach them what winning means, what it takes to win."

Müller is shaking things up after captain Maximilian Arnold had previously indicated that there were problems within the team. According to Kicker, things got loud on Wednesday, during a heated argument between sports director Peter Christiansen and goalkeeper Müller, where sparks were flying for minutes as the Danish sports director was upset that Müller had criticized teammates in public.

The Wolfsburg keeper is content that the internal crisis at Wolfsburg is now out in the open: "It's totally fine for me," said Müller, "I have no problem with it at all. I'm a fan of addressing things clearly and clearly - especially when you're in a desperate situation like we are."
