The former FC Copenhagen defender Denis Vavro, who today plays for Wolfsburg, risks being suspended by the Slovakian national team for two years after hitting a 17-year fan during an indoor tournament in his home country.

On 23 December 23, a video of Vavro was published, in which he was provoked at an indoor tournament and wanted to confront a fan in the stands.

According to Kicker and TVnoviny, things then got out of hand when Vavro ended up hitting a 17-year-old boy in the face during a scuffle.

Vavro could end up being banned from the Slovakian national team, as the football association is currently investigating the incident and has stated that it could have consequences.

"We condemn Denis Vavro's inappropriate and unacceptable behavior at the Christmas indoor tournament in Preseľany, which was contrary to the statute of a member of a national team. The Disciplinary Committee will decide on any consequences," said association spokesman Juraj Čurný for the website sportovy.cas.sk.

The Slovak national football team's rules say that players should avoid any behavior that could damage the reputation of the Slovak Football Association, its members, the national team, or its partners.

Anyone who violates this rule in any way may inadvertently say goodbye to the national team for up to 24 months. It will likely be a matter of the next few days or weeks before a decision is made on the defender's future in the national team.

Vavro's agent, Martin Petras, does not believe that it should end with a two-year ban for Vavro.

"I firmly believe that they will take this as an ideal example of a warning to others."

"I accept that Denis is a representative of the Slovakian federation but at the same time I hope that the competent authorities will not deal with this with a match penalty, but rather preventively", he said in an interview with TVnoviny.

In Wolfsburg, however, things do not look nearly as serious for Vavro, as the case is closed in Germany.

"We are aware of the incident. We have spoken to Denis about it. He has sincerely apologized for his behavior. All further details will remain internal", the Bundesliga club said in a press release.
