But Stellenbosch FC are out of the latter competition after suffering defeat in Congo, and will now concentrate on climbing the Betway Premiership table and advancing further in the Nedbank Cup.
Here is a round-up of the action on Sunday.
Mamelodi Sundowns still alive … just
Sundowns had to come from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at St Eloi Lupopo, but are outside the top two in their Champions League pool and will have to beat Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger at home next weekend to advance.
Al Hilal of Sudan lead the pool with eight points after five rounds, followed by MC Alger (seven), Sundowns (six) and St Eloi Lupopo (six).
They fell behind in Lubumbashi when Enoch Molia netted at the back post after Jean Tukumbane had beaten the offside trap.
Jayden Adams equalised for Sundowns on 55 minutes and, despite wave after wave of attacking, they could not find a winner.
MC Alger will be a difficult team to break down in Pretoria, and Mokwena knows the Sundowns squad well.

Kaizer Chiefs top their group but not through yet
Chiefs defeated Al Masry 2-1 in Polokwane, which leaves them top of the pool ahead of Zamalek (eight points), Masry (seven) and ZESCO United (three). ZESCO pulled off a major shock by beating Zamalek on Sunday.
Fabio Silva scored from the penalty spot for Chiefs after 39 minutes following a handball in the box, but Masry equalised via Abderrahim Deghmoum.
Chiefs had the final say as Aiden McCarthy bundled the ball in from a corner to claim the win, though had they scored one more goal they would already have booked a quarter-final place.
Chiefs will need just a point at Zamalek next weekend to advance, but a defeat could see them finish outside the top two altogether.
Masry could match them on 10 points and, given each team recorded a 2-1 home win in their meetings this season, their head-to-head record is level. That would mean goal difference comes into play and, while Chiefs are currently on +2 and Masry on 0, that would change if Chiefs lose and Masry win. It would then come down to goals scored, with Chiefs on six and Masry on seven.

Stellenbosch bow out
Stellenbosch bowed out after they were beaten 3-0 by Otoho d'Oyo in Brazzaville and can now mathematically no longer reach the knockout rounds.
Pomi Nzaou put the Congolese side ahead after 38 minutes, and shortly afterwards Klegnime Kone added a second for the hosts. Kone then scored the third on 79 minutes.
Stellenbosch had their fair share of chances but could not convert any of them and sit bottom of the table with one round to play.
Otoho d'Oyo and CR Belouizdad (from four games) have nine points each, while Stellenbosch have four. The latter host Singida Black Stars in their final match next weekend, which will be a dead rubber if the visitors do not beat Belouizdad later on Sunday.
