The sick Carranza couldn't start the game against AC Milan due to a lack of fitness and replaced Feyenoord academy product Zepiqueno Redmond after 64 minutes. The Argentine would score the deciding equaliser just ten minutes later.
"I am still sick, but I am also very happy," Carranza said after the game. "It was very tough for me because I don't feel well. I came from the bench and then I scored this goal. It's unbelievable, and I will never forget it.
"Hugo (Bueno) delivered a cross just before and it went to the far post. So I knew it would end up there again. I made the run and all I had to do was head the ball in."
Feyenoord played against ten men after Theo Hernandez picked up a second yellow card for a supposed dive. It was a welcome advantage for a Feyenoord side dealing with a plethora of injuries - the Rotterdam missed a total of eleven players due to injury.
A total of 4,000 supporters made their way to Milan and showed their support all night long.
"Look at our supporters," said Carranza. "We are going to the next phase and have knocked out a great team like AC Milan. This is what I am here for."
Carranza started the season as the third-choice striker behind Mexican star Santiago Gimenez - who scored the opener in Tuesday's knock-out tie - and Japanese Ayase Ueda. After Gimenez's departure to Champions League opponents Milan and an injury which will keep Ueda out for "weeks", Carranza was due to make his ninth start of the campaign, but a nagging sickness kept him on the bench.
"I want to play these games and show what I am capable of. A lot of things have happened between my arrival at Feyenoord and now. It was a difficult start. But that I can now score this goal is fantastic."
