John Stones will leave Manchester City at the end of the season after a decade at the club in what is an emotional goodbye.

Stones has made 293 appearances for City, winning several titles with the club, including the historic treble in 2023, when they won the league, Champions League and FA Cup in a single campaign.

In all, he has helped City win six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups and the old Club World Cup in what has been a legendary spell with the side.

Stones broke the news in a post on Instagram. "They say all good things must come to an end… but this thing we have had has been the greatest, and it will remain a part of me forever."

The club also confirmed his departure, as he prepares to wave goodbye to fans in the final game of the season against Aston Villa at the Etihad.

"John Stones will leave Manchester City in the summer, bringing an end to a memorable and hugely successful 10-year stay at the Etihad.

"Having joined City in 2016, where the English central defender became Guardiola's second signing, Stones has gone on to make 293 appearances in what has been a magnificent decade of service to date.

"The 31-year-old's huge contribution across the most sustained and successful era in the Club’s history stands without question."

The England international has been linked with a return to Everton as he weighs up his options ahead of the summer transfer window. He also joins Bernardo Silva, who will also depart the club, as two legendary figures leave together.
