PSV have been crowned Eredivisie champions for the 26th time after a true rollercoaster season.

The 2024/25 Eredivisie season had everything: intrigue, drama, blown leads, a tight title race, and a spectacular ending.

To celebrate PSV's dramatic title, Flashscore tells the story of their season through five highlights.

1: Imperious start

After dominating the 2023/24 Eredivisie season, PSV were looking to go back-to-back as champions for the fourth time this century. An absolutely blistering start to the 2024/25 season helped a bunch: PSV won the first ten games of the season, a streak that included 5-1, 7-1, and 60 wins over RKC Waalwijk, Almere City, and PEC Zwolle.

PSV's perfect start saw the score 35 goals, concede a mere six, and take a 7-point lead over Ajax at the top of the table. However, it wasn't the best start in Eredivisie history: PSV won the first 17 games in the 1987/88 and 2023/24 Eredivisie seasons.

2: Furious recovery

After conceding their first loss of the season to Ajax (3-2), PSV proved they hadn't lost their touch and went on a furious four-game win streak. NAC Breda, FC Groningen, FC Utrecht, and FC Twente were beaten 3-0, 5-0, 5-2, and 6-1. That's three games in a row in which they scored five or more goals. Three.

3: Feyenoord dismantling

Questions about PSV arose after losing 1-0 to Robin van Persie's sc Heerenveen, a game PSV manager Peter Bosz called his side's worst during his tenure at the Eindhoven club.

PSV were forced to recover quickly from their questionable performance in the North of the Netherlands as Feyenoord came to visit Eindhoven the weekend after. The Rotterdam side had improved from their shaky start to the season and impressed with a 3-3 draw against Manchester City and a 4-2 Champions League win over Sparta Prague.

The reigning champions did not care about the outside noise and dismantled Feyenoord 3-0 in another dominant performance. It was their last game before the winter break, which PSV entered with a 6-point lead and a staggering 59 goals scored in just 17 games, averaging almost 3.5 goals per game in the first half of the Eredivisie season.

4: The Great Escape

A disastrous start to 2025 saw PSV squander their lead over Ajax and totally give up on a potential title after a 2-0 home loss to their rivals from Amsterdam. With seven games to go, Ajax had a 9-point lead at the top of the table and looked primed to win a record-extending 37th league title.

But a collapse from Ajax, who failed to beat FC Utrecht (4-0 loss) and Sparta Rotterdam (1-1), saw PSV close the gap to four points before a crucial clash with Feyenoord, the most in-form team in the country at the time.

A Robin van Persie-led side seemed to rock PSV's season yet again as Feyenoord took a 2-0 lead after ten minutes, but a phenomenal second-half comeback from PSV totally revived their title hopes.

Noa Lang scored the equaliser in the 72nd minute before scoring a last-gasp winner in the 99th minute. After Ajax lost 3-0 to NEC Nijmegen two hours after PSV's dramatic victory, the gap was reduced to one point.

5: The comeback of dreams

As Ajax continued to struggle in the final days of the season, PSV became the favourites to win the Eredivisie title. Following their loss to NEC, Ajax drew to FC Groningen in dramatic fashion. A win over FC Twente stopped Ajax from ending the season on a 5-game winless streak, but saw them spoil a big lead after getting a 99% chance to win the Eredivisie title from Opta.

PSV defied the odds and dropped a mere three points in their last ten games of the season, closing a miraculous comeback out with wins over Heracles Almelo (4-1) and Sparta Rotterdam (3-1).

A 26th title went from a far-fetched dream to reality in the space of just two months.
