The UEFA Europa League concluded its inaugural league phase last Thursday. With many twists and turns across the 18 matches - which were played simultaneously - here is a stat from each of the games.

4 - Ajax's 2-1 victory over Galatasaray ensured that they would take part in the knockout round playoffs. The win also made it four straight wins over Turkish opposition for the Dutch giants, who are 12-1-1 in such matches. Galatasaray ended the league phase with the most goals scored, on 19.

3 - Hoffenheim could not keep their continental campaign going into February despite a 4-3 win over Anderlecht in Brussels. The Germans can take solace in picking up their third European away win all time. All three of those results came in the Europa League group phase, and Thursday's win was their second one in Belgium, having beaten Gent 4-1 in the 2020/21 group stage.

95 - AS Roma return to the Europa League knockout rounds following an important 2-0 success at home to Eintracht Frankfurt. The Giallorossi picked up their 95th win in the UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League, leaving them joint second with Sporting CP, and one behind Inter Milan.

9 - Athletic Club became the only side to go four from four in home games in the league phase as they topped Viktoria Plzen 3-1. Plzen's struggles versus Spanish teams continue, as it was their ninth defeat in 12 such matches (2-1-9). They will still move on, but miss out on a top-eight finish, unlike their Basque opponents.

2 - Sporting Braga handed Lazio a 1-0 defeat in Portugal, but it was not enough for the hosts to get past this stage. Missing out due to conceding one more goal than Fenerbahce, Braga have now failed to successfully negotiate the first phase of the UEL for the second straight appearance. They finished third in their group two seasons ago, dropping to the UEFA Conference League.

19 - Dynamo Kyiv finally got a win as they beat RFS 1-0 in Germany to get off rock bottom. The Ukrainian side's 19-game winless run in group-phase football comes to an end. Before beating RFS, their last win came on the final matchday of the Champions League group stage in 2020/21 when they beat Ferencvaros.

0 - Manchester United qualified for the last 16 after winning 2-0 in Romania against FCSB. In doing so, the Red Devils ended up being the only team in the UEL this season not to lose in the league phase. Across all three UEFA club competitions, they, Chelsea and Vitoria Guimaraes were the only sides not to have lost in the league phases.

8 - Ferencvaros held on for a 4-3 victory over AZ Alkmaar to make it to the knockout stage for the second appearance in a row. AZ have some problems with away matches in Europe though, as it is now a run of eight straight matches without success - qualifiers included.

1 - Lyon managed to earn a spot in the top eight despite a 1-1 draw at home to Ludogorets. The Bulgarian side's goal in France was their only away goal in the league phase, scoring the fewest on their travels. Fittingly, Lyon scored the most away goals of the league phase with 10.

17 - Porto squeezed into the knockout stages as they eliminated Maccabi Tel Aviv 1-0 in Serbia. The Israelis conceded their 17th goal of the Europa League league phase in their defeat, which ended their run. Only Dynamo Kyiv (18) and Qarabag (20) let in more.

22 - Midtjylland and Fenerbahce both move on after the Danes struck late in their 2-2 draw. Midtjylland gave up multiple goals in consecutive European home games for the first time since 2020/21 UCL, both in the group stage. That came 22 games ago, from the last time they did it to Thursday night.

10 - Nice and Bodo/Glimt played to a 1-1 draw in France, as the Norwegians missed out on a top-eight finish with the stalemate. Les Aiglons are winless in 10 European matches, with this being the first time they failed to win a match in a group phase. They finished second-bottom on goal difference.

5 - Olympiacos made the most of others slipping up as their 3-0 defeat of Qarabag sent them directly to the last 16. The Azeri regulars have now lost to Greek opposition for the very first time in what was their fifth such meeting. They also finished in last place, conceding the most goals with 20.

7 - Rangers somehow managed to finish eighth as they topped Union Saint-Gilloise 2-0 at Ibrox. In what was their 17th continental away game, Union lost for the seventh time in such matches. It was the second time they fell at Ibrox, having also done so in the Champions League third qualifying round two and a half years ago.

27 - Real Sociedad ended the league phase with another victory, this one being a 2-0 success over PAOK Thessaloniki. For the first time in 27 years, the LaLiga outfit have kept three consecutive clean sheets in European club competitions. PAOK's three-game winning streak in the UEL came to an end as well.

- Slavia Praha and Malmo concluded their respective European campaigns with a 2-2 draw in Czechia. After winning on matchday 2, the Swedes failed to win in any of their remaining six ties, conceding 14 times in that run. Slavia ended their five-game losing streak but were already knocked out.

14 - Tottenham got the job done as they beat Elfsborg 3-0 to finish fourth in the league phase and qualify directly for the last 16. The Allsvenskan club had the chance to make the knockout rounds of a UEFA club competition for the very first time, but finished 26th instead. Finishing level on points with PAOK, Twente, Fenerbahce and Braga, Elfsborg had the worst goal difference of the lot with -5, with the 14 goals they conceded ultimately costing them.

13 - Twente are back in the knockout stages of a UEFA club competition after they edged Besiktas 1-0 at home. It is the first time in 13 years that the Enschede-based club successfully negotiated the group phase of a UEFA club competition. For the fifth time in a row, Besiktas could not get past the UEL group phase.
