Pedro Neto put in an inspired performance as Chelsea beat Hull City 4-0 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night, while Wrexham overcame Ipswich Town.

The tie marked an emotional return to East Yorkshire for Chelsea boss Liam Rosenior, who was sacked by Hull in 2024 after narrowly missing out on the Championship play-offs.

Neto opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a tidy finish from a Liam Delap pass, before conjuring a remarkable second directly from a corner.

He later completed his hat-trick after another Delap lay-off to make it four for Chelsea.

In between, Estevao showed great composure to add a third, atoning for an earlier miss when he shot over the bar after rounding Dillon Phillips.

Delap was also denied in the first half, seeing a clearance rebound off him against the bar before he failed to convert the follow-up.

Hull’s resistance waned amid a flurry of second-half changes and mounting frustration that brought bookings for John Lundstram and Joe Gelhardt.

Lewis Koumas rattled the post in stoppage time, but it was scant consolation for the hosts as Chelsea recorded their eighth win in 11 matches under Rosenior.

Wrexham also advanced, grinding out a 1-0 victory over Ipswich in their FA Cup fourth-round tie, with Josh Windass’ 34th-minute strike proving decisive on a chilly night in North Wales.

The hosts defended stoutly thereafter, denying Ipswich a way back into the match and booking their place in the last 16 for the first time since 1996-97.
