The Nigeria Football Federation has confirmed that the Nigeria national team will face Portugal and Poland in high-profile international friendlies in June.

Eric Chelle’s men recently featured in a four-nation tournament played in Turkey where they defeated Iran and settled for a 2-2 draw versus Jordan.

According to the NFF, the Super Eagles will face the Polish national team at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in Warsaw on June 3 before facing the Portuguese side seven days later in a yet to be announced venue.

"NFF’s FIFA Match Agent, Jairo Pachon of Eurodata Sport, confirmed on Thursday that the clash with Poland will take place at the PGE Narodowy Stadium in the country’s capital, Warsaw on 3rd June, while the clash with Portugal will take place in Portugal on 10th June, with a venue to be announced in the coming days," a statement from the NFF read.

"The game against the Selecao das Quinas, name of the Portugal senior men's team, will be the last game for the hosts before they fly to the far west to take part in this summer’s FIFA World Cup finals being jointly hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.

"The Cup holders, Super Eagles, are also scheduled to defend their crown at this year’s Unity Cup Tournament in London, taking place 26th – 30th May."

Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following their inability to defeat DR Congo in the play-off staged in Morocco.

Regardless, they finished third at the recently concluded Africa Cup of Nations, where they defeated the Egyptian national team on penalties after the score ended in a draw.
