Ghana ended their Asian tour without a win after falling 1-0 to South Korea in their final match of the 2025 Kirin Challenge Cup in Seoul.

The defeat follows a 2–0 loss to Japan four days earlier. Otto Addo rang the changes for the final game, making six adjustments to his starting lineup.

Prince Kwabena Adu and Prince Owusu were handed their first starts, while Benjamin Asare returned in goal.

The first half offered little in terms of clear openings as both sides spent long spells feeling each other out.

Ghana’s best moment came from a deflected Kamaldeen Sulemana effort, but neither team managed to carve out a decisive chance before the break.

The second half, however, sparked into life. South Korea capitalised on their early pressure when Lee Tae-seok met a Lee Kang-in cross and headed past Asare for the opener.

Ghana responded brightly and believed they had levelled after Adu brilliantly rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home, only for the goal to be ruled out for a marginal offside.

The Black Stars continued to threaten but were let down by their final touch in key moments.

Korea could have put the game beyond reach when Caleb Yirenkyi fouled Hwang Hee-chan in the box, but the Wolves forward saw his penalty saved by Asare.

Moments later, Brandon Thomas-Asante struck the base of the post from distance, while Sulemana curled narrowly wide as Ghana pushed for an equaliser.

Ghana thought they had finally broken through late on when Jonas Adjetey bundled home from a set piece, but once again the flag went up for offside in the buildup.

The Black Stars now turn their attention to March 2027 as preparations continue for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
