In a two-line statement, Olympique de Marseille announced the departure of manager Habib Beye, with Bruno Genesio expected to replace him very soon.

Former Olympique de Marseille captain who came to save what could still be saved, Habib Beye has been officially relieved of his duties.

The club did it without any ceremony: with a two-line statement.

"Olympique de Marseille announces the end of its collaboration with Habib Beye. The club thanks Habib Beye and wishes him all the best for the rest of his career."

His departure had been decided several weeks ago, but some contractual details still needed to be settled and took time to finalise.

This announcement was a prerequisite before officially confirming the signing of Bruno Genesio, who was at the end of his contract with Lille and comes to Marseille even though the club did not qualify for the Champions League.
