Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has spoken to the media as his side prepare to go up against West Ham United this weekend.

A win for the Gunners would mean Arteta’s side go top of the table for a couple of hours at least before Liverpool face Chelsea later that afternoon.

Arteta reaches 300 games in charge

Arteta firstly spoke on reaching 300 games in charge of the side and Bukayo Saka’s journey to 200 appearances for the club.

“I feel very privileged, I am enjoying what I do, with the people I do it with. You have to win matches to stay in the job, and we have to enjoy our profession.

“Winning rate, the highest? Even with that winning rate we haven't won major trophies.

“While you were talking I visualised Bukayo playing as a left-back. He's very far in his journey, the role he has got in his team.”

Gabriel could miss the game

Next, he provided some team news ahead of Saturday's match, including news on defender Gabriel Magalhaes, who picked up a knock against Olympiacos in midweek.

"We will have to wait and see after training (with Gabriel). We will have to see how everyone is, but we are not too concerned about him.

"(Piero Hincapie) will be available after the international break, this game came too fast.

"Kai (Havertz), Noni (Madueke) and Gabi (Jesus) are the same."

Lewis-Skelly always reliable

Arteta then praised defender Miles Lewis-Skelly who was called up to the England squad once again by manager Thomas Tuchel this week.

"Credit to the boy, the family, and everyone who has been part of his education.

"He hasn't got the minutes he wanted but the engagement gives you always the possibility to rely on him."

Arsenal must be at their best

Finally, Arteta commented on the Hammers and their new head coach Nuno Espirito Santo, and how he believes that his side must be at their best to collect three points.

"That tells you the difficulty of that, with a new manager, we know Nuno very well. We expect a very tough match.

"That's what we want to continue and play in the manner that we want. We learn in the last seasons as well, we had two defeats."
