Newcastle United have confirmed that former captain Kieran Trippier will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Trippier joined Newcastle in January 2022, with the club sat in the Premier League relegation zone, and was a catalyst for their ascent back up the table.

The England international has made 157 appearances for Newcastle and helped guide them to two Champions League finishes as well as a first domestic trophy in 70 years during his tenure.

“The time has come to leave this amazing club after four and a half years. This is where I’ve felt most at home. It’s emotional, and I’m really going to miss it," Trippier said.

“I want to say a massive thank you to the supporters for all the support through the good and the bad times. You’ve always supported me, always stood by me."

The 35-year-old captained Newcastle on several occasions and was the first Magpies player to captain the England national team since Michael Owen in 2005.
