Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola spoke to the press as he prepares to face West Ham United.

City have won 10 of their last 12 matches across all competitions, and have bagged at least two goals in all 10 of those victories. They meet West Ham for the first time since January, when Erling Haaland scored a brace in a 4-1 top-flight home win.

Guardiola believes City have do better

Guardiola’s side could jump to the top of the league with a win before league leaders Arsenal face Everton in Saturday evening’s kick-off.

The Spaniard first spoke about this weekend’s opponents, who sit in the relegation zone and how he feels his side are doing at the moment.

"We are prepared. So they didn't get enough results, but they drew at Old Trafford and Brighton away. They lost at the end to Aston Villa. They have top-class players. We are ready. Past is the past. What we have done, good or bad, is the past.

"We have results but a lot of things we have to do better. It helps for the fact that the mentality and commitment are incredible. We are not at the level required to win the title."

Maresca to replace Guardiola?

There have been rumours this week that the City board see Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca as the perfect replacement for Guardiola if he leaves in the summer. Guardiola was next asked about his future as speculation grows.

“The last three or four years every time someone asks me that question. Sooner or later, when I'm 75 or 76, I will quit City.

“I understand the question but I have 18 months left and I am so delighted.

“That question happens every single season and I'm okay.

"There are no discussions - end of the subject. I will not be here eternal here, none of us will be forever in this world but there are no discussions.

"What is going to happen will happen and the club has to be prepared for everything. The club has to be prepared but that subject is not on the table right now."

The City boss continued to speak about his future which is a hot topic in the media at the moment as reports suggest he could leave once the season concludes. Guardiola grew slightly frustrated by the comments on where he could be in one year's time.

"I answered that question two questions before. I am here. What's going to happen, who knows? Even if I have a 10-year contract or six months, football changes a lot. Now I am focusing on West Ham and then golf after a few days with my dad and that is all."
