Liverpool landed arguably the biggest bargain in world football when they signed Andy Robertson for just £8 million from Hull City in 2017.

Robertson joined the Reds as a relatively unknown quantity to supporters, but he soon endeared himself to the fanbase with his lung-bursting runs and quality final ball.

For many years, Scotland's captain and Trent Alexander-Arnold were two of the best full-backs in the Premier League, and several felt they revolutionised the position with their attacking prowess.

Alexander-Arnold has the most assists of any full-back in the competition's history, while Robertson is second on the list, having recorded double figures for assists in three separate campaigns.

The 32-year-old was pivotal during Liverpool's golden years under Jurgen Klopp, and has since become hugely popular with Slot.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of the trip to Aston Villa on Friday night, Slot highlighted how Robertson transformed the full-back position with his ability to travel up and down the flank, referencing that infamous clip against Manchester City

"I think he is maybe the player who changed that position into a player that constantly goes up and down. I think we all remember the press vs Man City; many, many managers showed that to their players. I was one of them," the Dutchman said.

"It showed mentality and intensity. He played with that all throughout, constantly up and down, important on both sides of the pitch. One of the full-backs that changed that position.

"He is a great human, I have experienced that for two years working with him. People see that in social media posts. He has been a very influential player for this club."

Robertson is set to depart Anfield once his contract expires at the end of June, and he will leave with eight trophies to his name in nine years, including two Premier League titles and one Champions League.
