The Dutch striker sustained the injury in last weekend's defeat to Fulham and is one of several new injuries for Sunderland - Jocelin Ta Bi, Romaine Mundle, and Nordi Mukiele are all expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future.
"It won't last too long," Le Bris said about Mukiele and Brobbey. "Between two and four weeks, depending on the way they respond to the treatment and the rehab."
Brian Brobbey was set to make his return to the Dutch national team after a year-long absence, with Oranje set to face Norway and Ecuador in next month's international break. The former Ajax striker is the latest Netherlands player to be plagued by injury after Frenkie de Jong and Emanuel Emegha.
'Might need surgery'
Le Bris was less optimistic about Ta Bi and Mundle, whose injuries will sideline them for longer.
“It might be a difficult injury,” Le Bris said of Romaine Mundle, who's appeared in 14 games for the Black Cats this season. “He might be sidelined for a few weeks or months. We still have a few more assessments to make, but we’ll have a clear picture soon. He’s experienced this injury before so it means something for him. It’s still early to say if it is exactly the same.”
Jocelin Ta Bi, however, might need surgery, the Frenchman revealed.
“Jocelin might be in the same position as Romaine, with a different injury. He might need surgery, so it could take weeks or months. It’s still a bit early as well.”
Sunderland are set to face Bournemouth on Saturday.
