Sunderland manager Regis Le Bris has spoken to the press as he prepares to face Wolves this weekend.

Sunderland have the opportunity to move into the top six of the Premier League table this weekend as they face off against bottom-of-the-league Wolves, who have accumulated just one point from their three away fixtures.

Sadiki and Alderete injuries are unfortunate

Le Bris firstly spoke on the injuries Noah Sadiki and Omar Alderete picked up whilst on international duty.

"We checked Noah yesterday and he seems okay. We will see after the training sessions, today and tomorrow, if he will be available for this weekend - but we are positive.

"Omar has just come off a 20-hour flight, so we will see. We will assess him again this afternoon. We already had a chat with him yesterday, which was positive. We just have to wait a bit to assess him."

Ballard may start

He also commented on Daniel Ballard's return and fine form for Northern Ireland during the international break, which is good news for the Black Cats who may opt to use him this weekend.

"He was really close to our squad at the start of this season, but after that he got an injury and another player came in and played well. It was good news for our squad because competition is needed at this level to push the players.

"He plays at a high level and he is always ready to play, so that's always a positive for a manager."

Sunderland need to be clinical

Next, he opened up on this week's opponents, who are desperate to grab their first win and crawl out of the relegation zone under manager Vítor Pereira who the board have full faith in.

"They struggled at the beginning of the league but the last two games showed that they are really competitive. They deserved to win their last two games. Good players, good energy, well coached.

"This is the league, you can struggle even if you are strong. If you are not clinical, you can be punished. They had many chances to score a second goal. That is the Premier League.

"I hope that we will be able to score twice and win."

Small details must be studied

Finally, Le Bris commented on the club's advantage of playing at home at the Stadium of Light and how his team must be consistent as the threat of relegation for a newly promoted side is always there.

"It’s positive but we can feel the danger. We felt for this 20 minutes when we struggled in one part of the game, the opponent was really able to damage our defence. So it shows that on one side that we’ve done well so far, but it’s fragile.

"So if you don’t pay attention to small details, you will be punished.

"We know we’re on the edge but it’s positive we have been competitive.
