German international Malick Thiaw has highlighted the importance of Nick Woltemade as a teammate at Newcastle United. "It's fantastic. I think he'd say the same. He's really helped me."

The 24-year-old enjoys "sharing a club with another German", "someone you can always speak German with and who shares your interests", said Thiaw in an interview with Sky.

Woltemade has become "a very good friend of mine at Newcastle United. I'm really happy he's here and he's a great asset to the team", Thiaw emphasised.

Thiaw is also impressed by striker Woltemade's performances on the pitch. "Nick's qualities are beyond question. I already knew Nick before, so I was confident he'd be able to make his mark in England. The fact that he got off to such a perfect start was ideal. He's doing a fantastic job."

Thiaw joined Newcastle from AC Milan in the summer, while Woltemade arrived from Stuttgart. Both are currently part of the Germany national team squad, preparing for the final World Cup qualifiers on Friday in Luxembourg and on November 17th in Leipzig against Slovakia.
