Tottenham Hotspur have begun exploring the possibility of appointing Mauricio Pochettino as they step up their search to replace Thomas Frank, with the Argentine emerging as the priority target.

Several names are being mentioned for the Spurs job, including Roberto De Zerbi, Robbie Keane, Andoni Iraola, Oliver Glasner and Sir Gareth Southgate

However, it is Pochettino who represents the dream scenario for key figures inside the club.

Club bosses believe he is uniquely positioned to reconnect the players and supporters, while also raising standards within the current squad.

There is a feeling that Pochettino’s ambition and emotional connection to Tottenham could help restore harmony and elevate the club’s standing.

The past two seasons, under both Ange Postecoglou and Frank, have been marked by growing discontent.

Performances - particularly at home - have led to mounting frustration in the stands, and tension has increasingly spilled into match days.

For the hierarchy, this is a high-pressure moment as the next appointment must steady the club and reset the mood.

Should Spurs receive encouragement that Pochettino is attainable, it is understood they would consider installing an interim manager for the remainder of the season to pave the way for a longer-term reunion.

Ideally, the club want clarity on their direction by the start of next week as they build towards the looming clash with Arsenal.

Players are due back in training on Monday, and there is hope that by then a clear message can be delivered about the pathway ahead.

Pochettino is currently head coach of the US Men’s National Team and is preparing for a World Cup on home soil.

Sources have told Flashscore that while he has always been open-minded about a return to Spurs, he is committed to leading the USA into the summer tournament and would not walk away from that responsibility.

That leaves Tottenham carefully weighing up how complicated a deal would be to structure, while also assessing the implications for the remainder of a season that has already drifted into uncomfortable territory near the relegation zone.
