Live Changes

Competition between friends during the FPL gameweek just got more intense, with real-time updates enhancing the matchday experience. Leagues and bonus points are set to update instantly, so you can witness the immediate swing when that late captain goal goes in.

For those chasing overall rank ahead of mini league glory, this will also be updated continuously while the games are live. All scores are confirmed at Gameweek lock of 09:00 UK time, the day after the final match of the gameweek.

Bonus Changes

Speaking of bonus points, they’ve seen some subtle changes ahead of this campaign, following the successful integration of defensive contribution points into the game last season.

The BPS system has been boosted for goalkeepers, full-backs and attacking players, to limit any crossover of players earning defensive contribution points and bonus points in the same game.

Players are no longer penalised in the matrix for being tackled, which should benefit attacking midfielders and full-backs. Conversely, defensive actions such as clearances, blocks and interceptions now get 1BPS for every three actions, instead of two.

For goalkeepers, they now earn 2 BPS for any save, with an extra 1 BPS for those shots taken from inside the box. They’ll also earn 1BPS for saving a big chance, with a penalty save now worth 7BPS.

Price Changes

The FPL price change mechanism has long been a mystery but fantasy managers are set to gain some more clarity this season with a new Price Change Predictor built into the FPL site, ahead of changes at midnight UK time each day.

Player prices are locked at the start of the season but fluctuate depending on transfer activity up and down once Gameweek 1 begins. The predictor won’t give full transparency, but will indicate a player likely to rise or likely to drop.

Rank Changes

The Fantasy Premier League site and app are now clearer to support fantasy managers, with squad views which cover team, points and transfer pages. In this view, you can also select to toggle for fixture difficulty rating, ownership or upcoming opponent.

You can also measure your progress against your family and friends, with your % finish for every season playing the game and also your career average. Who has the bragging rights overall?

Positional Changes

11 players in the game have seen their positions reclassified for this season, which could make them more attractive picks. This includes Brighton striker Georginio Rutter (£5.5m) who could start the season as their number nine following the departure of Danny Welbeck.

Manchester United’s Patrick Dorgu (£6.0m) moves from defender to midfielder after being utilised higher up the pitch by Michael Carrick in the tail end of last season. Manchester City's Omar Marmoush (£7.0m) moves from midfielder to forward too.
