Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Danso is closing in on a move to Scottish Premiership outfit Livingston FC, Flashscore sources can confirm.

The deal expected to be completed when his contract with Norwegian second-division club Stabæk expires on December 30.

The 25-year-old will be available on a free transfer, and has signed a pre-contract agreement with Livingston who look to strengthen their midfield options ahead of the January window.

Danso, who has steadily built a reputation as a technically gifted and hard-working midfielder, began his football journey in Accra before earning a move to France, where he spent time in the academy and B team structure of Olympique Lyonnais.

After leaving France, he moved to Norway, first featuring for Stromsgodset before joining Stabaek, where he has been a regular presence in midfield.

His rise to wider prominence came unexpectedly in 2024 when Ghana star Mohammed Kudus mentioned him in an interview with Sky Sports, describing Danso as “the best player I’ve ever played with” from their academy days.

The comment quickly circulated across Ghanaian media and European scouting circles, drawing attention to the midfielder as Livingston took note of his situation.

Another key development in Danso’s impending move is the confirmation of his work permit, which has already been approved.

The process, according to sources close to the player, was supported by strong recommendations from Kudus and Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande, both of whom vouched for Danso’s quality and professionalism.

Livingston, who continue to prioritise intelligent and cost-effective recruitment, view Danso as a valuable addition capable of adapting quickly to the intensity of the Scottish Premiership.

The club is expected to make a formal announcement once his contract with Stabæk officially runs out and registration opens in January.

If completed, the move will see Danso take the biggest step of his professional career so far, entering a league known for its physicality, pace, and growing competitiveness.
