Toney, 29, swapped England for Saudi Arabia last year after joining Al Ahli in a £40M move from Brentford, which already has seen him lift the AFC Champions League and add the Saudi Super Cup.
Toney enjoyed a successful first season in Saudi Arabia as he scored 23 league goals in 30 appearances, just two away from legendary forward Cristiano Ronaldo. Despite this, England boss Thomas Tuchel decided not to call up the striker to the World Cup qualifiers this week.
Speaking to The Guardian, Toney revealed that his England dream is far from over, and he just has to perform and prove that Tuchel needs him for next year’s competition.
"I have to concentrate on myself and give myself the best chance possible, and who knows? If I am selected, I will do my best for my country but if not, I’ll be cheering the boys on.
"I don’t expect to have a conversation with him (Tuchel). I am sure he has other things to be concentrating on. My job is to do well. It is what it is.
“If you are good enough, you are good enough; it doesn’t matter where you are playing in the world. As long as you are doing the right things and scoring goals, then you give yourself a chance.”
Toney has the likes of Ollie Watkins, Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford ahead of him, alongside many other world-class talents.
If he were to make it back into the England setup, he would have to really impress Tuchel, who seems to favour the European leagues when picking his side.
